Places to visit nearby:

Ganpatipule: Visit the 400-year-old Ganapati Swayambhu Temple located on a foothill. Ganapatipule is one of the eight significant Ganapatis (“Ashta Vinayak”) of India.

Poet Keshavsut Memorial: This beautiful monument and museum is a houseful of information on modern day Marathi poets.

Jayagad fort: This 17th century fort is located at a distance of 35 km at the entrance of the river Sangameshwar. Enjoy a magnificent view of the sea.

Karhateshwar temple: A beautiful temple at a 3 hours drive from Ganpatipule where you can truly relax amidst unruffled, tranquil natural surroundings.

Parshuram: Visit the Parshuram Temple amidst pristine surroundings.

Dervan Shivshrushti: A museum containing breathtaking and a magnificent collection of sculptures and paintings on the life of “Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj” (the great Maratha king) created by Shivaji Patkar (a famous designer) at Dervan.

Guhagar: Stroll on the beautiful clean beach in the evening and watch the glorious sunset. There is also an ancient Shiv temple here.

Velneshwar: Visit the old Shiva Temple and the beach.

Hedavi: Visit this beautiful beach and take a walk or just relax in the grove of coconut trees along the beach. There is also a small Ganpati temple which has a fresh water spring where you can refresh yourself after playing in the sea.

Ratnagiri: The district town of Ganapatipule is an interesting halt for sightseeing. It houses the home of Lokmanya Tilak, now Tilak Smarak. The first ever temple built for non-brahmins called Patit Pawan Mandir, the Ratnadurga Fort, Bhagivati Bunder, a sea port and the Coconut Research Centre are some of the other places you could visit in and around Ratnagiri.

Pavas: One of the holy places in Konkan. Visit the shrine of Swami Swarupananda. The special food items of Konkan like 'Fanaspoli', Ambapoli, Amras are available to the tourists at a very reasonable rate.
